Actuaries put a price tag on future risks. They have been called financial architects and social mathematicians because of their unique combination of analytical and business skills in helping to solve a growing variety of financial and social problems.

Actuaries make financial sense of the future. How? An actuary applies mathematical models to problems of insurance and finance. To be more specific, actuaries improve financial decision making by developing models to evaluate the current financial implications of uncertain future events.

An Actuary:  An Actuary is a person who passes as an expert on the basis of his/her prolific ability to produce an infinite variety of incomprehensible figures calculated with micrometric precision from the vaguest of assumptions based on debatable evidence from inconclusive data derived by persons of doubtful reliability, for the sole purpose of confusing an already hopelessly befuddled group of persons who never read the statistics anyway.

Actuaries usually are members of various Associations and participate in continuing education seminars.  Leif Associates utilizes the Internet to a great extent in gathering up to date information.  Check out some of our favorite sites.

Actuaries have no sense of humor, as demonstrated by some of our favorite jokes.
